I love it when former (are you REALLY ever "former") Anadarkoans share their memories.
My new friend James Graham sent this picture. Jim wrote: "Here is the circa 1956 photo of Eagle Scouts: Richard Varva (L) and "Jimmy" (me) Graham (R) at Black Beavers grave-site providing an honor guard for some coming event celebrating the Chisholm Trail which was established in part by Black Beaver. I understand that his grave was moved at some later point, perhaps in the 1970s, to Fort Sill. He was the first Native American inducted into the National Hall of Fame for Famous American Indians in Anadarko.
The grave was in a field just NW of the Anadarko City Limits at the time. I believe the trees in the background of the photo are along the banks of the Washita River."
