Train-the-Trainer Course
The Fundamentals of Training course is the updated version of The Trainer's EDGE and serves as the foundational "train-the-trainer" course for youth and adult leaders in Scouting America. It focuses on helping participants develop and polish presentation and instruction skills using proven BSA teaching methods.
Whether you train leaders, parents, or Scouts — this course will equip you with the techniques and confidence to make your training engaging, organized, and effective. Using a team-based model similar to the patrol method, participants learn how to present topics that educate and inspire.
The Fundamentals of Training course is required for those serving on Wood Badge and National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) staffs. It's also highly recommended for anyone who presents at Roundtables, conducts position-specific training, or teaches youth leadership skills.

- Anyone interested in improving training and presentation skills
Pre-Course Preparation
Participants must prepare a 10–12 minute presentation on a Scouting topic or hobby to give during the course. Bring any materials you'll need to support your presentation. You'll receive feedback from your peers and learn ways to strengthen your delivery and confidence.
