Summer Camp Staff
Each summer, the Last Frontier Council employs nearly 100 youth and adults as seasonal camp staff. In addition to several weekend meetings in the spring, the staff work for a full week prior to camp opening to make sure campers have a top-quality summer camp experience.
The council hosts two major summer camp programs:
1. Scouts BSA and Venturing Summer Camp at Kerr Scout Ranch at Slippery Falls (KSR@SF)
2. Cub Scout Resident Camp at Camp George Thomas (CGT)
District Cub Scout Day Camps and Twilight Camps organize volunteer staff for shorter, single-week sessions.
Summer camps always need of additional talent on staff. To be employed as a camp staff member, candidates must be at least 15 years old and agree to register as a member of the Boy Scouts of America. The council also offers a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program for younger youth for shorter durations (more details below.)
Staff Applications
In 2021, both summer camps are accepting application beginning in January and attempting to hire a full staff in February. Both camps are usually still accepting applications for limited slots through April. Applicants need to select which camp they will apply for and submit that application:

Staff Interviews
Staff interviews are organized by the Camp Directors. Most interviews will be done via video conference and scheduled by email after the the receipt of the application.
Counselor-In-Training program (CIT)
For Scouts or Venturers at least 14 years old, or 13 years old and having completed the 8th grade, our camps offer a Counselor In Training (CIT) program. Youth must have permission from their unit leader and submit an application form with references. Scouts in the CIT program will be at camp for one or two weeks and serve without compensation, similar to an unpaid internship. Scouts will learn about various areas of camp and skills necessary to be employed on staff.
Complete the application and return it to the council by mail or e-mail.
