Why It Matters
Scouting and the VFW share deep roots in patriotism, leadership, and community service. Partnering as a Chartered Organization lets your Post guide youth development alongside veterans—supporting tomorrow’s leaders with values rooted in service.

✅ How Posts Can Become Chartered Organizations (COR)

  1. Approve & Guide a New Unit

    • Complete the New Unit Application (Form 524-402), signed by your Post Commander.

    • Form a small committee to recruit adult leaders and help launch the unit.

  2. Assign a Chartered Organization Representative (COR)

    • The COR is a member of your Post who serves as the official connection between your Post and the Scout unit.

  3. Submit Forms & Fees

    • Required paperwork includes:
      • New Unit Application
      • Annual Charter Agreement
      • Youth & Adult Applications
      • Registration and insurance fees

  4. Launch & Support

    • Hold a kickoff meeting, submit forms to your local council, and plan a charter presentation at your Post.
