*Saturday, November 2, 2019: Flyer distribution day

Chairman: Robert Clements

"To help other people at all times" is not only part of the Scout Oath; it's an annual council-wide service project across 24 counties of central and southwest Oklahoma.  Scouts collect over 50,000 pounds of food for local food pantries just in time for the holidays.

Scouts distribute informational door hangers a week prior to the collection day.  On the morning of the collection day, Scouts canvass neighborhoods to collect bags and boxes full of non-perishable food destined for Oklahomans who need a little extra help during the winter.

Hunger Facts

  • A household that is food insecure has limited or uncertain access to enough food to support a healthy life.
  • Children are more likely to face food insecurity than any other group in the United States.
  • 58% of food-insecure households participated in at least one of the major federal food assistance program — the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamps); the National School Lunch Program and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (often called WIC)
