High Adventure Treks
Boy Scouts and Venturers are invited to attend this high adventure week in the wilderness of the Cookson Hills. This camp is scheduled during Oklahoma's spring break in March. Scouts new to backpacking may participate in the Backbacking Basics Trek.
Cost is $50, and all food for the week and bus transportation to and from the Oklahoma City Scout Office.
For those who just crossed over into Boy Scouts and want learn about outdoor skills and backpacking, Diamond H offers a 3 day introduction to backpacking over Spring Break. Participants will complete a Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop to learn how to minimize their impact on the enviroment.
The course also covers Backpacking equipment, shakedown process, choosing a campsite, orienteering, water treatment, cooking and trek selection.
- Youth must be at least 12 years old by March 21, 2019.
- Adults may participate in this trek to learn essential backpacking skills.
Hiking, camping, and backpacking are challenging outdoor activities. For those looking to sharpen their outdoor skills and learn about backpacking, Diamond H Scout Ranch offers a 3 day backpacking adventure on the trail over Spring Break. Participants will complete a Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop to learn how to minimize their impact on the environment while backpacking. The course will also cover backpacking equipment, choosing a campsite, orienteering techniques, water treatment, cooking, and trek planning. Participants will hike out Friday afternoon and camp on the trail, returning to base camp Sunday morning.
- Youth must be at least 14 years old by the first day of the trek and have prior camping experience.
- Adults may participate in this Trek to learn essential backpacking skills!
